Jim and Fab to Miss Out Thu 01st Feb 2001 11:40
Jim Magilton and Fabian Wilnis are almost certain to miss out on Saturday's Premiership clash with Leeds United. Wilnis missed last night's game after picking up a hamstring injury in training. Magilton was replaced by Amir Karic in extra time suffering with the same problem.
Op for Brown Fri 17th Nov 2000 10:38
Town centre-half Wayne Brown may have to undergo a minor operation to rid him of his persistent hip/groin injury. The left-sided player has had a problem all season and even took a holiday to get some rest. This has not done the trick and he's off to see a specialist to have a scan in a fortnight. He had an injection last week to help settle the problem.
Bramble Called Up Thu 28th Sep 2000 22:46
As expected Titus Bramble has been called up to the England U21 squad meeting Germany and Finland. Bramble started the previous game against Georgia and must be fairly confident of getting the nod once more from Howard Wilkinson. The squad alos contains former Town loan player Paolo Vernazza.
Titus Out Tue 19th Sep 2000 14:43
Titus Bramble is likely to miss tonight's Worthington Cup second round fitst leg at the New Den with a hip injury. The 19-year-old received a shocking challenge on Saturday from Lee Bowyer and this looks likely to have caused the injury. John Scales will take over at the back. As expected Amir Karic will not start, although he seems likely to come on at some stage. George Burley said: "Amir has only trained for one morning with us and it is too early for him to begin a match."
Karic Receives Clearance Mon 18th Sep 2000 11:55
Amir Karic, Town's latest signing, has received his work permit and will be in the squad for tomorrow's game at Millwall. The Slovenian will be sorting out the remaining red tape today and is expected to sign on the dotted line so he can make his debut at the New Den. Town manager George Burley said of his new signing: "He has a lovely left foot and is very dangerous at set plays." I think we've been needing someone like that for a while haven't we?
Double Standards Fri 15th Sep 2000 16:03
With the Portman Road standing controversy becoming increasingly heated, TWTD thought it might be an idea to find out whether all clubs are enforcing the policy. We spoke to editors of a number of Premier League fan sites, and here's what they had to say:
Duo in U21 Squads Wed 23rd Aug 2000 12:42
Town centre-half Titus Bramble has been included in the England U21 squad for the friendly with Georgia. The 19-year-old has made an impressive start to the season and the call-up is well deserved. Full squad: Bramble (Ipswich), Brown (Manchester United), Campbell (Middlesbrough), Carrick (West Ham), Chadwick (Manchester United), A Cole (Arsenal), J Cole (West Ham), Dunn (Blackburn), Jeffers (Everton), Naylor (Wolves), Newton (West Ham), Parker (Charlton), Prutton (Nottingham Forest), Robinson (Leeds), Smith (Leeds), Smith (Watford), Stockdale (Middlesbrough), Terry (Chelsea), Thirlwell (Sunderland), Vassell (Aston Villa), Weaver (Manchester City), Young (Spurs).
Bramble In? Thu 27th Apr 2000 13:59
Titus Bramble may well make his first appearance of the season in Saturday's ultra-crucial game between Town and Charlton at the Valley. With John McGreal out for the season, Mark Venus suffering with an ankle injury and now Manu Thetis having a back problem, the eighteen-year old, plagued himself with injury this season might find a place in the line-up. George Burley will want to keep playing the 5-3-2 formation which saw Town back to winning ways rather than go back to the 4-4-2 which has rarely worked for the Blues this season. Other possibilities for the third centre-half joining Tony Mowbray and Wayne Brown are Matt Holland, who might find himself dropped back from midfield or Fabian Wilnis. Holland moved into the defence when Thetis went off on Tuesday and has played there before both for Town and Bournemouth. Fabian Wilnis might find himself moved inside from right-back despite a patchy performance against Palace. Gary Croft would then get a recall. Up front Marcus Stewart may well be fit for Saturday which would allow James Scowcroft to take Holland's place in the midfield. Jermaine Wright might find himself starting if Scowcroft remains in the attack.
Tranmere Squad Tue 21st Mar 2000 15:57
Town's squad for tomorrow's game at Tranmere: R Wright, Branagan, Wilnis, Clapham, Stockwell, Croft, Mowbray, Venus, Brown, McGreal, Thetis, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Scowcroft, Johnson, Stewart, Naylor and Axeldal. As stated earlier McGreal and Stewart are very doubtful starters.
